Poem performance

Logan and I are doing the poem "The Everyday Enchantment of Music". Basically, we chose some lines from the poem which talk about the sound, and music we read them out loud, we pause and we play them sound. Moreover, we decided to find ball when ever we are speaking pretend to polish it. I think it show the themes of the poem which is music, and that is what we want to emphasize. We kind of highlight the powerful of music and music itself.

Poem Response

The poem I chose is "The Everyday Enchantment of Music".  The first time I read the poem, I think this poem is very unique in the genre of poem. One thing that make this poem unique is that the poem is not written in separate lines or it is not separated as stanzas, but as one paragraph. Therefore, it  seems to me, the author is telling a story about the music.  When I first read this poem, I thought this poem is the feeling that the author had after he watched the performance in Venice since the author mentioned Venice couple times. However, after I read a few times more, I think the poem is about the music is made and the powerful effects that music has. The author uses a lot of imaginary to create a fairytale. An example of that would be "when tears of the sea fell from the Bridge of Sighs, which in turn was polished until it ceased to be and in its place stood the empty home of a heart in trouble". This sentence is actually a little bit sad. Nevertheless, I...

Notes of three poems

The Every Day Enchantment of Music The poem talks about the feeling about music of the author and how he loves music. The poem does not have a certain rhyme pattern. The poem has a lot of metaphor, for example, "Then the music was polished until it became the memory of a night in Venice when tears of the sea fell from the Bridge of Sighs" .  Moreover, the author keeps repeating Venice which is the city of music, I think it is related with author's own experience. Mother to Son As the title says, this is a poem that a mother writes for her son. The author uses metaphor to compare life and crystal stair. She talks about how tough life would be, but "life for me ain’t been no crystal stair". I think the author tries to tell her son that no matter how tough life is, do not give up and do not give up hope. I, too For me, this poem is talking about a black person who is strong and independent. The author uses simple languages to fight back racist. There is not an...

Analysis Reflection

For my final draft of the analysis paper. I think I did a good job to analysis some specific words form the text and I did notice some little tense changes in the text which can bring different meaning of the text. I improved the introduction. At the first draft, my introduction was more descriptive rather than argumentative. However, I added one sentence into the paragraph and made it more argumentative. Moreover, I added more paragraphs which contains more analyzes. I think the only challenges I faced was that for this assessment we could not use outside sources and we could not use the background knowledge s of the author which made the essay a little bit harder to write. As I mentioned above, my strength was I did analysis many specific words and some little details of the text. My weakness should be the introduction for the essay overall  is hard for me to write. If I had more time, I definitely would re write my introduction again, and check every body paragraph to make sure ...

FInal Draft

LET’s Drink a Case of You “A Case Of You” as a song which has been very popular since 1971 has several interesting point to analysis and people have different adaptations within the text. Most of people think that the song talks about all the missing the author has to her lost husband.  It seems to me, the text tries to prove how much the author misses her country and loves her country. Joni Mitchell is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She quotes the famous Shakespeare line “ I am as constant as a northern star” on the first stanza of the song. It is spoke by by Caesar to his conspirators right before they assassinate him. I think it shows the constant heart of the author that she loves her country deeply and her heart will never be moved.  Moreover, following the text, the author states that “ I drew a map of Canada Oh, Canada” . It shows how much the author misses her home country especially she writes “ And I sketched your face on it twice” following tightly. “ tw...

A case of you

Just before our love got lost you said I am as constant as a northern star" and I said Constantly in the darkness Where's that at If you want me I'll be in the bar On the back of a cartoon coaster In the blue TV screen light I drew a map of Canada Oh, Canada And I sketched your face on it twice Oh you are in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter But you taste so sweet, oh I could drink a case of you, I could drink a case of you darling Still be on my feet I still be on my feet Oh, I am a lonely painter I live in a box of paints I'm frightened by the devil And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid I remember that time that you told me, you said Love is touching souls Surely you touched mine 'cause Part of you pours out of me In these lines from time to time Oh you are in my blood like holy wine You taste so bitter And you taste sweet oh I could drink a case of you, I could drink a case of you darling Still I...

Reflection of Group Project

I think the hardest thing of this project was creativity. We literally just had a poem as our inspiration, so how to turn a poem to the stage was the hardest thing. After we got to our plan rest of the performance was easy. I think we did practice a lot on collaboration because we needed to stand up and speak immediately after other people done with their lines. This was also a hard thing to do. I think the way we staged the stage and the pattern we used to perform was very interesting to watch especially at the end we used three languages to say same words. We successfully expressed the poem as whole class but I think the perform forms were limitated.
