MED's Blues Dramatic Art

We have finished our songalogue project through this week. Everyone did a great job. For myself, I'd like to say the song I chose is easy, and I'm not very satisfied with my performance.  The first draft which I played on Wednesday I think was quite good because I think that was the version I put most of my emotion in，I had been trying to catch my emotion like my first draft, but I just couldn't do it again. However, I think the voice was okay and I consider that has always been my advantage, but I do think I have to build more level when I'm telling the story. Moreover, the blocking is a problem, I'm not very good at thinking about blocking, I think the reason is I use too much time on the words, I want to use words to express myself, so I'm limited on blocking. Today, I just did my songalogue again, and I have been trying to get in the mood a little bit. Moreover, since I have already memorized the lines, so it doesn't bother me. 

1: Who am I? A male musician about 20 years old. He has a girl he likes very much. He has been to art collage but he dropped. 2: What time is it? It's in spring, and the evening of a day. 3:Where am I? There's two occasions, one is in character's home, another is in a party. 4: What surrounds me? In the house, the character's sitting downstairs, the lady is choosing clothes and putting make ups.  In the party, there are all friends of the character. 5： What are the given circumstances. The man have woo the girl and he loves her very very much. 6：The Character and his girlfriend. Most people in the party are the character's friend. 7:   The character is taking his girlfriend to a party.

                                                We have done our little monologue acting through last few week，everyone‘s wonderful and it makes stressful. Anyway，for my acting，the boy named Austin knocks head of school’s door，I would like to say there is something I‘m quit satisfied，but also there is something I think I can prove. First，I’m very glad that can learn something from classmates，everyone has their characteristics when they are performing，I really have stolen some from them. I learnt how to focus  on details and sometimes a little action or expression can effect the character you are performing. Moreover， I learnt how to use breath to create different levels of the character I‘m performing.  Moreover, when I was acting Austin I used a lot of pause to show that the character is nervous, from the feedback of people, I learnt how to change the paus...

  As a blues player, it seems I don't play in the theatre very often but as a drama actor I'm actually very familiar with theatre.  Theatre is a place that people can express themselves in a very different way and it is a place may not be very serious but it is stately and it has to be respect. I take theatre very seriously, I mean, it is very different than playing blues in the live house. Playing blues in live houses is free and we can jam with each other even we haven't met before, it doesn't need to be perfect , Buddy Guy does not tune his guitar very often and Jimi Hendrix didn't know what he is playing while he is playing on the stage, every blues musicians just play whatever they want. Nevertheless, playing in the theatre is much more difficult,  I can not play whatever I want, we have to show our best to our audiences, I have to analyze the background of the play, remember the lines over and over, and put me into the character.
